Music

I’ve been playing in bands for over 40 years (yikes!), but most of what’s been captured for posterity is from the time I spent in the Macworld All-Star Band—a group of fantastic people and dear friends. We got together to play at the now-defunct Macworld conferences, beginning with a relatively small gathering at a club in Manhattan’s Meat Packing district to playing for 800+ lovely geeks in an extravaganza called Cirque du Mac at San Francisco’s historic Broadway Studios.

We rehearsed once a year, whether we needed it or not, and had the time of our lives along the way. I don’t think the videos were ever quite able to capture the sound of the band, but here are some great-looking videos shot by some amazingly talented friends and fans.

In 2020 (and again in 2021), we got the band back together to create a couple of “quarantine videos” to support musicians impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. (Depending on when you read this, you may need to look that up.) At the time of this writing, those videos were available on the Macworld All-Star Band website.
